Yesterday 2 Canadian soldiers were hit by a car in a small Quebec town by the name St-Jean-sur-Richelieu. 1 soldier has died of his injuries, the other still in hospital fighting for his life. The suspect, Martin Rouleau, was gunned down by police forces. Before police started investigating, Conservative MP Randy Hoback brought up a point regarding the situation in the House stating that perhaps the hit and run was “radicalized.” I am a proud Canadian and am against terrorists. However this raises a point. Why do we always turn to radicalism? Before we knew that Roleau converted to Islam, we assumed that the attack had terrorism. What if it was just an accident? I am against terrorists, but I don’t like the fact that people jump to the conclusion that when an attack happens it has to be radicalized.
